Although I did not vote for him, I think people are optimistic about having him as our President. This optimism is a key ingredient in peoples spending and investing. A fresh new start, like some kind of a movement, could help to trigger events that might find a path out of this financial mess. Like McCain said, our country comes first. All of us must wish him great success and accept him as “our President”. We must remember, the success of this new administration will be “our” success as a nation, and to be successful they will need the support of us all.

People all over the world seem so happy about Obama being elected not only our President but a World Leader.I don’t recall ever seeing anything quite like this. Enthusiastic people can make a lot of good things happen. Obama is a terrific communicator and like Colin Powell says, he appears to be a transformational figure. I voted for McCain, but I’m optimistic.

He is a Marxist. He beleves in the redistribution of wealth. This country was founded on the principles of capitalism.

We have had bad presidents before and we will survive this one.

I also did not vote for Barack, but I have to say, when I listened to his acceptance speech as well as some of his other statements, I was impressed and energized. Maybe he is the one to “lead” this country to become what we are capable of. Leadership is the most important aspect of any CEO. If you can’t articulate the vision, set the goals, and inspire the people…your company will fail. He can’t do it alone. We all need to revisit our own personal responsibilities. Demand more from our congressmen and women. Refuse to accept the self interest and greed that has become so prevalent over the past decades. I believe, as Buddy does, that optimism and hope are essential. Demand more from our government in operating transparently and with the will and desire of the people as the driving force…not self interest.

Barack could just be the person who renews our hope and optimism and “leads” us to be all we can be as a nation. I, for one, will be watching, participating and hoping. God speed, Barack.

Yes, I think Obama will be a positive influence in this country. He represents fresh, unfettered energy, plans and action this country has been missing for the past 8 years. He is not entrenched with the usual self serving politics of Washington. We are in this mess because of the greed and self interest of those in charge. Bush’s long overdue departure from the White House should be his “Walk of Shame”. He has enriched himself and his cronies at the expense and well being of the citizens of this country. We are definitely responsible for our own lives and decisions, but I have witnessed many families who are in trouble because they were lied to about refinancing their home. That lender just sucked up whatever equity they did have in thier home in exchange for a small amount of cash back and a mortgage they would not be able to afford and all this was made possible by a BS appraisal. That and so much more damage is what results when there is no oversight or enforced regulation!!! The real estate market was turned into a free-for-all with some winners and many losers.

I am a registered Republican, and I voted for Obama. Why? I’m a US Marine Veteran, and against any war. All you need is to be an Infantry Soldier in the Marines to have an idea what killing is like. If one has spent his life as a proud serviceman as McCain has and he loves the power, I for one was uncomfortable with my party’s choice. And with our latest fiasco, it’s time to turn the page and move forward.

Unfettered greed and lack of oversight were significant factors in creating our housing slump. Exotic “financial instruments” are not regulated, nor are bundled “creative” mortgages. For sure, Obama and the Democrats will implement regulation in the financial markets and in the mortgage industry, restoring the confidence in the “system” which Bush and his horde of neo-cons almost destroyed. Repairing years of neo-con economic and governmental policies won’t be easy as many have not yet accepted the truth. . Neo-con policies caused this crisis, not Bush the man. It’s the policies, stupid!
Our only choice is to turn to more egalitarian and progressive tax and economic policies which served us so well in the past–under Eisenhower as well as Clinton, not to mention FDR, who all presided over unprecedented growth in the middle class. Our economy does better under Democrats–really!

Yes he is polished and well versed, but the experienced older people such as myself, were able to see thru the charm and charisma. I have 2 active army soldiers who have been deployed time and time again and are ready to serve when they are called, and no it’s not about power, but your duty to do what you promised to do. I did not vote for him because I do not trust him. I think our Commander and Chief should have some experience, and we have yet to see the real Obama. We want to blame President Bush for everything. It was your choice to refi your house over and over again and use that money to go on vacations, and buy vehicles you could not afford and now you are losing it. You used your credit cards to the max. I really did not see many people suffering, but I did see many people living the good life. Obama promised many things that are easier said than done. We will all suffer the consequences if indeed this was a mistake.

I hope that Obama will be help. Not just real estate but the entire economy but if the stock market plunging after his election is any sign, we are in trouble.

Pat 11.07.08 at 11:03 am

Only time will tell with the Obama selection. I hope he fulfills the many promises of his campaign. If so, a positive attitude will flourish in the country which is a start…the reality is that businesses provide jobs which in turn provide income for homebuyers…and thus the wherewithall to actually purchase!!So, a positive business climate is essential to pull our economy out of the current recession. Hopefully, the democratic congress will not lose sight of that. My other concern is that low interest rates will be shortlived…with all the extra money being printed, inflation will kick in again..raising interest rates. Not a good thing for the real estate industry! Investors I have spoken with are going to stop buying because they are concerned about what is to come…for those reasons, even though I have been a lifelong Democrat and formerly lived in Chicago, I voted for McCain/Palin. I sincerely hope that “hope” and “change”, basically Obama’s platform, translate to actually effective programs and President elect Obama proves me wrong!

I believe his share the wealth ideas and the fact that he blames Wall Street is not a good sign. The government policy of “helping” people buy homes by pushing affordable housing loans which supports our “buy it know” mentality, is the problem. Government should “push” credit education and asset investment policies that facilitate people buying homes using full doc A paper loans WITHOUT government help! I pray that he opens his eyes and see that self reliance should come first. Please see Solution63.net for further info on a true solution to the current crisis.
