Hi Julie,

That was a great Daily Message this morning about Suzuki roshi.  I used to be a zen monk so I especially appreciated it ..;)

And I love the word  “persevere” — especially what it means …. it’s synonyms and related concepts are so inspiring and such great reminders!  For example:

Be persistent, carry on, keep going, be determined, follow through, keep at it, press ahead, don’t take no for an answer, be tenacious, stand one’s ground, stand fast-stand firm, hold on, go the distance, stay the course, plod on, stop at nothing, leave no stone unturned, hang on, plug away, stick it out and hang in there!

1.  How much time am I devoting to learning and studying the practice of real estate each week? I love to learn so much, but I think even more than this is that I love to apply and integrate the knowledge so that I can teach it to others!  One of these years, I’m going become a teacher! So I usually study real estate about 5-6 hours a week, but some weeks considerably more than this as there is so much to learn!

2. How much time am I spending actually practicing real estate and taking action?  Honestly, I love taking action, and I’m not doing nearly enough of it!  And here’s what I know to be true:  when I get an actual client, it forces me to learn more.  So my study of real estate takes on a more specific focus!  Then instead of studying 5-6 hours a week, I’m up at 6:00am every morning doing a 2-hour “power study,” working diligently and focused all through the day because the work is calling it forward, and then listening to calls while I’m driving, and reading more at night, and then I can’t wait to get up and take more action the next day!  With a real live client and lots of work, I get this great feeling like “I’m coming alive” and that “I’m waking up” and I’m so very eager to get going every morning.  I become really inspired, I get turned on, and I love it!  I’m thinking now that my biggest challenge is a marketing problem because I’m developing great skills through HREU, but I just don’t have the clients to work with yet ….  So, it’s a marketing problem that I’ve got  — (and maybe a little confidence problem)

3.  How quickly am I giving up?  Am I giving up right before I see success?  Nope.  I love it too much. So I’m gonna persevere, go the distance, stay the course, I’ll stop at nothing, and I will leave no stone unturned!  Yay!!!

Thank you so much for this great little zen story this morning, and for asking these questions! It helped me to tap into how I felt when I did my first (and only) short sale.  Okay, I’m ready to go now!
