Welcome to Episode 21 of Renovation Reality, hosted by Atlanta real estate expert Collette McDonald. Last week, Collette offered a final look at work on the house ahead of the upcoming final reveal.
With just four days left, the rain was falling and humidity was at 93 percent. The hardwood floors were steamed and were not drying. Countertops, lighting fixtures and plumbing fixtures still need to be completed.
Sometimes, manufacturers have specifications regarding temperatures and relative humidity levels for the installation of their products. High humidity levels make it difficult to meet these specifications. As a result, the contractor is left to hope the weather changes soon.
Before you make a house your home, you want to make sure it is ready to live in. For many, ensuring it is feng shui, a philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment.
Beyond construction and fixtures, there can be myriad other ways to ensure that a home is ready to move into.
Collette shows off the outside of the house with a special guest who will make sure that the house offers good vibrations to its residents. You don’t want to miss this segment to see just what the special guest does to make sure that the home is “clean” and will provide the ultimate comfort for the new residents.
Responding to an online comment, Collette mentioned that whenever you build or do a renovation, you should always have a contract that includes final walk-through items. Items like caulk or paint may not be just right. You want to hold some cash back or have a clause that ensures the house is perfect for you.
