DJ Khaled, a hip hop producer and social media superstar with 4.16M followers on Twitter and 12.1M followers on Instagram, tipped off his fans via Snapchat that he’s contracted to buy a nearly $25.9M mansion in Miami Beach.
Built in 2013 by Michael Lerner of “Baby on Board” car sign fame, this 13,000 square foot mansion has 5 bedrooms, a movie theater, double height foyer, marble fireplace in the living room and chef’s kitchen. Outside, there is a bi-level gazebo, 80-foot long swimming pool and 4-bedroom guesthouse.
Khaled vacations at his beach house in Nassau and headquarters at his $10M Mulhulland Drive estate in Beverly Hills.
Meanwhile, Matt Lauer, formerly of NBC’s Today Show when he was terminated on allegations of sexual misconduct, sold his co-op on East 64th and Lexington after just 4 months for $8M, well above the list price of $7.35M. The co-op is one of few in a storied brown-brick boutique building. Interestingly enough, this building was also once home to Bernie Madoff.
This pre-war unit has 3-4 bedrooms depending upon how one utilizes the space, a multi-room master suite, a 28-foot long living room with an antique carved stone fireplace and coved ceiling moldings, formal dining room, chef’s kitchen and service quarters, and two ample guest rooms with private baths.
Lauer also owns several properties around and about but, unlike Khaled, Lauer is currently trying to sell, not buy. In 2016, he did sell a bay-front cottage in South Hampton for $3.5M. During that same year, Lauer bought and is now having trouble selling a 25-acre, two-residence, bay front property in Sag Harbor for $36.5M. He’s also having trouble selling another Sag Harbor home with a cut price tag of $12.75M from $18M.
Apparently, the only property Lauer would like to hold onto is a $9.2M ranch in New Zealand.
We’ll see what happens.
