Resonance considered six categories in its analysis of these cities:

Subcategories included housing affordability, job opportunities, quality of key institutions, attractions, infrastructure, diversity, economic prosperity, and quality of arts, culture and night life.

For the record, New York City is the number one destination for international visitation, visitor spending and economic importance in the world. Chicago gets exceptionally high scores for programming, culture, infrastructure, affordability and food. San Francisco ranks 5th among all cities globally for GDP per capita, wealth, beauty and “smarts.”
