The US Census Bureau’s Population Estimates Program determined which US metro areas experienced the most negative net migration between 2010 and 2018. (Negative net migration is defined as having more people moving out rather than in.) Save cities in the South which experienced much more positive net migration, some cities that experienced negative net migration did so due to natural changes (more deaths than births) and to changing economic conditions.

Though some of the cities experiencing negative net migration took big hits population-wise, some had lower levels of population loss and a few actually had population increases where those people who stayed had more children.
