Real estate related companies translate into real estate investors, brokerages, agencies, developers, property management companies and others, according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). Why mention the SBA? Because the SBA administered the CARES Act Payroll Protection Program that supplied relief aid to companies negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 42,840 real estate related companies received PPP relief aid loans in excess of $150,000. 4,956 of that nearly 43,000 real estate related companies received over $1M in PPP relief aid loans and 282 of these companies received between $5M – $10M. Homelight Inc. in San Francisco was one of the companies that received between $5M – $10M of PPP relief aid funding.
According to cashoffer.com, 688 PPP applicants listed their respective “entity” as sole proprietorships, self-employed or independent contractors. However, the two most common entity types listed were Corporation (17,361) and LLC (13,137).
