With rents climbing +12% last year to a median of $1.400/month, according to Zumper, renters are having a tougher time paying their rent, let alone saving for a down payment.

Since some cities have higher rents than others per square footage, renters who want more space for working remotely may consider moving to a less expensive real estate market in order to get that space.
