WalletHub Study Ranks All 50 States as Having Most Resources for Raising Families

WalletHub evaluated 51 metrics across five categories to rank the best and worst places for raising a family.  The categories included:

  • Affordability – cost of housing and insurance, savings rates, mortgage debt, etc.
  • Health and safety – vaccination rates, availability of pediatricians, environmental quality, road safety, crime rates, etc.
  • Education and childcare – both the quality of and availability of educational and childcare resources
  • Socioeconomics – job opportunities, unemployment rates, divorce rates, poverty rates, etc.
  • Family fun – share of families/children living near parks or playgrounds and attractions designed for play, fun, fitness and sports, etc.
