How would you like to get an out-of-the-blue email asking whether or not you’d consider hosting an HGTV show?  Ashley and Jed Gronewald, real estate agents in Raleigh, NC, thought it was a scam when they received that email.  No, as it said in that same email,”I promise this is legit.”

Obviously, it was. Two weeks ago with 1 1/2 years in the making, the pilot for this new reality show aired on HGTV under the working title, “He Sells, She Sells,” starring the Gronewalds.

This seemingly out-of-the-blue email question wasn’t so out-of-the-blue.   Ashley and Jed Gronewald, real estate agents with Hunter Row in Raleigh, North Carolina, are highly regarded, over-the-top achievers.  Jed, along with being an avid broker and investor, has extensive experience in new home construction, home renovation and investment real estate.  Ashley is a super star sales producer with an arm’s length list of awards to prove it.  Just in 2016, Ashley won the Platinum Level Award and Best in Firm for Sales for executing a volume of +$25M, the Isaac Hunter Level and Best in Firm for Selling 102 homes, the Gold Level Award for Days on the Market at 7 days.  Additionally, the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors presented Ashley with the “Top Producers Council Award” for extraordinary sales performance in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016.

Clearly, the HGTV scouts and producers knew what to look for in terms of sales acumen, construction/renovation expertise and investment savvy and they knew what they wanted for an on camera couple.  No glitz, no drama.  Just wildly attractive, successful, smart, grounded people who happen to be married, parents and long time residents of one of the hottest real estate markets in the country.

Ashley describes the show’s premise as “…we both bring investment properties to the table.  I bring my choice house, he brings his choice house and we try to sell each other on the best house.”  They jointly choose and they jointly renovate their best house.  “Whose ever house it was initially is the person who puts it on the market.”

Jed describes the show’s working title, “He Sells, She Sells” as completely appropriate “…whether it’s what we buy at the grocery store or what house we’re going to renovate.  We pretty much have to sell each other on everything.”

HGTV network executives will soon decide whether or not Ashley and Jed have sold the pilot “He Sells, She Sells” to them.  Based upon their combined track records and their on-camera personas, the Gronewalds have sold me.
