I know we’ve written about the size of the Millennial generation, 75M, before…we’ll talk about this coveted generation again today…and again and again in the future. Why? Because this coveted generation bolsters everything in its wake.

Where Millennials move matters. Millennials sustain and augment their local work force, their local tax base and their local real estate agents. Pay attention, all of you agents.

SmartAsset is certainly paying attention to where millennials are choosing to move. It has just released its 2018 edition of Where Millennials Are Moving study. SmartAsset used US Census Bureau data for 2017 from both the states and the nation’s 217 largest cities to come up with its findings.

Notice that for the first time, New York City is not in the top 10 Millennial cities. True, 69,200 Millennials moved into the state “to make it anywhere” from other states but 95,000 left the Big Apple to move to other cities and states. And notice that Washington State captured the largest Millennial net influx as well as the largest net Millennial influx (0.55%) relative to the state’s total population.
