Early data from ATTOM also indicates that the average effective property tax rate is 1.16% in 2018. Cumulatively, property taxes on single-family homes rose to $304B, and increase of +4%.
States having the highest effective tax rates in 2018 included New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Cities with the highest effective tax rates in 2018 included Binghamton NY, Syracuse NY, Rochester NY, Rockford IL and Atlantic City NJ.
