We’re back with Episode 13 of Renovation Reality, hosted by Atlanta real estate expert, Collette McDonald. During last week’s edition, she offered some tips for low voltage installation to wire your home for all entertainment and communications options. She also revised options for the chandelier vote for viewers, adding some additional options.
In this week’s episode, the biggest snafu was a siding contractor that was a no-show. With no siding, no interior drywall can be completed. The siding protects the interior of the home. Without this crucial step, several other projects cannot be completed.
The kitchen design continues to progress. Viewers selected quartz for the countertop. It is man-made and durable.
However, the homeowners enjoy entertaining guests, so Collette conducted an experiment to make sure the decision would fit with the homeowners’ lifestyle. To do this, she conducted a spill test, leaving red wine on a piece of marble.
The wine seeped into a vein, leaving a deep stain in the material. This eliminated the material from consideration. Quartz wins!
The cabinets still have not been ordered, nor have the appliances. The homeowner is seeking input from viewers regarding appliance design. The design of the kitchen renovation shows two double ovens with a stove top and vent.
Another option is a 36-inch commercial-grade gas stove with an oven and a half, six burners and a vent above. It is a perfect option for a family that enjoys entertaining guests.
In a reveal in this week’s episode, Collette debuted sliding glass doors that are 12 feet in width. They are perfect for entertaining guests and open to an inviting backyard.
Stress is high as contractors are no-shows and others take vacations!
