US News and World Report just released its latest list on the Best Places to Live in the US. Of the 125 cities included on this 2018 Best Places to Live, 21 cities had a population size of +2.5M, 32 had a population size of 1M-2.5M, 46 had a population size of 500,000-1M and 26 had a population size of 50,000-5000,000.
To make it to the top of the list, cities had to have good value, a strong and stable job market, a high quality of life and be a desirable place to life. US News and World Report utilized data from the US Census Bureau, the Department of Labor, the FBI and internal resources of the publication.

- Austin, TX – 7.7 out of 10 overall; quality of life 7.1; 7.1 value – The Live Music Capital of the World is filled with students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, wealthy retirees, attorneys and lobbyists who savor the music scene, outdoor spaces and cultural institutions. The median home price is $278,608. There is no personal or corporate income tax; there are low state and local taxes. The only drawn back, traffic.
- Colorado Springs, CO – 7.6 out of 10 overall; quality of life 7.2; 7.2 value – One of the quieter, gentler place to live in the US, Colorado Springs draws students, professionals and military personnel wanting to enjoy its low cost of living, low unemployment rate and tremendous access to outdoor and recreational opportunities.
