Thirty miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Nantucket Island saw the average price on a single-family home increase +6.7% from last year to $2.2M. Meanwhile, in the Hamptons, the average price of a single-family home during Q1 2019 decreased -3.1% to $1.7M, according to Douglas Elliman Real Estate and Miller Samuel.
According to data from Lee Real Estate, sales volume on Nantucket Island jumped up +48% to $62.7M compared to $42.4M last year.
Both the Hamptons and Nantucket Island are said to appeal to Wall Street types but “…you go to the Hamptons to be seen and to Nantucket Island to not be seen,” according to insiders.
Both hotspots sparkle with high profile names such as Beyoncé and Jay Z, Alec Baldwin and Martha Stewart in the Hamptons and Bill Gates, Jack Welch, Eric Schmidt, Katie Couric and Mike Brzezinski on Nantucket Island, according to HousingWire.
Three listings on Nantucket Island can make your mouth water. One is a seven-bedroom estate with a four-bedroom guesthouse, pool, tennis court and private beach is currently listed for $35M. Another is a six-bedroom estate on three acres overlooking North Harbor currently listed for $9.45M. The third is a family compound including 5-bedrooms in the main house near the Island’s town center listed for approximately $9M.
